Transmitting the Way by means of modern technology.
This is the public Source Text library of Daoxue Academy, a small studio translating Zhu Xi's Four Books. We publish the Chinese Classics as clean plain-text files built for this era of AI research.
Two formats are planned: Chinese source texts (ST) and machine reference translations (RT). These feature English <Section Tags>, punctuation, paragraph breaks, and other architecture built around the Chinese text to give it structure while keeping its integrity intact. And while the tags are in English, a simple batch replace with a tool like Claude Code can render them in any language.
Our first release is the complete Wenji (ST), the "Collected Literary Works of Master Zhu" (朱子文集): Zhu's letters, memorials, treatises, and poems, 1.8 million characters in 121 chapters, from the Ming dynasty's 1532 Sibu congkan edition. Our second is the complete Yulei (ST), the "Collected Conversations of Master Zhu" (朱子語類): his recorded conversations with his students, 1.5 million characters in 140 chapters, from the Qing dynasty's 1782 Wenyuange Siku quanshu edition.
