This should probably always have been an option, but a recent release was bad and retracted, but older SDK versions do not appear to honour the retraction flag:

I can build the app, but I get the following error: Invalid argument(s): A directory corresponding to fileSystemPath "/Users/develien/.pub-cache/hosted/pub.dartlang.org/devtools-2.9.2/build" could not be found flutter/devtools#3549
