This is an updated version of the old, open source Netflix Party code. The current version on their GitHub is not working anymore after Netflix updated their player's design.
This version is one I fixed up in January in 2019, and figured it should be made public in case people want to use it. I don't know who runs the current public version of Netflix Party, but it doesn't appear to be the original creator or open source.
Because this extension is not on the Google Chrome Store, you need to install it manually. You can grab the latest release from the releases page.
- Get the latest release zip from the link above
- Extract the zip onto your drive somewhere
- Go to chrome://extensions/
- Click on the "Developer Mode" option to enable loading of unpacked extensions
- Click on the "Load Unpacked" button, select the folder where you extracted Yeetflix
You can now use Yeetflix!
- Go to Netflix and open up a movie or episode
- Click on the "YEE" icon to the right of your address bar
- Click on the big "Start the party" button
- Wait a bit for it to create the session
- Copy the URL it gives you & send it to your friends!
- Click the link your friend gave you
- Click on the "YEE" icon
- Enjoy!
Netflix Party is a Chrome extension for watching Netflix remotely with friends, e.g., for movie nights with that long-distance special someone. It synchronizes video playback and adds group chat.
