Although stacks can create items with sub-stacks, items modified by the stack can only be from the current level (e.g. root, sub-directory, file content).

If sub-stacks could be specified for existing items and those sub-stacks were applied to that items children, it would be possible to define all modifications for a hierarchy in a single YAML definition / file.

This has the potential to make it easier to share and build up new stacks for a hierarchy.
