path was not saved in settings.
Please select a directory with the right executable in it?
How to fix it?

well, this message comes when the path you have selected does not contain steam or dota executables(depending on which path you mean).

please tell me your OS and what have you done more precisely.

EDIT: i've tested it on my Linux machine, and fixed it in last commit: 56e9152
