DH Press 2.6 continues to offer improvements and enhancements to this powerful WordPress plugin for Digital Humanities projects.

Administrator User Manual at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NQO0ObqDIp576QpC5LvQ97d9vGB1YkrgSVhJZ22oIZg/edit?usp=drive_web

New Features

  • Marker Clustering (turn on or off for each map view in Project Dashboard)
  • Markers can be shown on map views as points, lines or polygons

Enhancements

  • Base maps are now built into DH Press (no need to import a map file)
  • Overlap maps are simplified and fully support Tiling Map Server standards
  • Deleting a Project automatically deletes all associated Markers
  • Deleting a Project automatically deletes all associated Legends (WordPress taxonomies)
  • Increased compatibility with your choice of Themes
  • Names now used internally to refer to overlay maps in Project definitions prevent them from being lost when Projects are transferred as archives between web servers
  • Viewing a Project now always takes over full browser screen (not a frame inset within a post page), so there is no fullscreen or minimum size setting
  • All text visible to end user has been quarantined to script files to facilitate language translation

Bug Fixes, Upgrades and Updates

  • Removed touchscreen code from map view (which was causing crashes)
  • Minimized Global settings to a useful subset
  • Implemented the user agent setting (in Global settings)
  • Some server operations have been optimized to use less working memory
  • Some bugs in error checking have been fixed

Configuration Changes (details in Administrator’s Manual)

  • You must delete all entries in your Map Library (and empty the Trash)
  • You must reselect the base map for all of the map views in your Project
  • If you use overlay maps, you will need to update the definitions, re-import them and re-select them in the map views (an updated version of the Carolina Digital Library and Archives file is available)

Date: For specifying dates – specific dates or ranges of dates – CE and BCE, with a range of specificity or uncertainty
YouTube: For displaying YouTube videos as Select Modal widgets

New Features

Card View now sorts and filters Dates
YouTube widgets can be added to Select Modals
YouTube and SoundCloud playback widgets work with transcriptions, or can be independent of them
CSV Export of Project data

Bug Fixes, Upgrades and Updates

Project Settings now contains a single setting (under “General”) for the Mote to use for a marker’s title on Select Modals and visualizations: You will need to select the mote before viewing any project in DH Press 2.5
Cards now require checking a checkbox if you wish for the marker title to appear as the first item to appear on each card
The WordPress custom post type for Projects has been changed from 'project' to 'dhp-project' to minimize clashes with other plug-ins but conversion will happen automatically when DH Press 2.5 is initialized
