Put up rack shelving on wall in laser cutter room #1095
We've got two tall rails left over from doing the rack shelving in issue #979 and there's space for it on the far wall in the laser cutter room. This would allow us to place some clutter high up near the ceiling out of the way. Also we could have a shelf off the floor and some dividers in the form of metal stems also screwed to the wall to store stiff sheets upright.
I was looking to use those rails in the alcove, for storage of the mailboxes and mail packages - I was also planning to cut up some of the surplus worktops as shelving, both in the nook and as an additional shelf for #979, to replace one of the 3D printer spool holders which is now mostly empty.
I think the idea of storage in the laser room as a good idea though, especially for some of the longer pieces of wood and material for the laser cutters.
I think some more robust shelves on the gable end wall would be a good idea. Perhaps we can make some more substantial brackets out of the offcuts of 3x2 we have in the CNC workshop. This would then support bigger and heavier material.
I also had an idea to make some vertical meterial storage something like that used in B&Q for their sheet material supplies. This could be made from either melamine sheet or else get a large sheet of MDF and cut it to size - we could likely get this delivered.
I will see if I can sketch up some plans of my ideas then post them on here for further discussion.
