Consider smaller Dymo label printer to print labels for food in the fridge #1270

It's often unclear who food in the fridge belongs to, which can be an issue when it looks as if it needs to be thrown out. It might help if it was labelled.

Once the smaller Dymo printer is working (issue #1232) , maybe we could attach it to an RFID reader so people could scan their tags to print name labels.

I had an idea about this the other day @jackie1050. Bit radical perhaps but what about we have a whole shelf in the fridge for this purpose? I think we have enough stuff "to be eaten" in the fridge but not stickered that it could work quite well?

@ajlennon I think that's an easier solution that means we don't have to use up lots of labels for this purpose, as cheap as they are someone would still need to replace the reels.

Nudge theory. I'm more likely to put something on an eat-me shelf than put a sticker on it

It doesn't help with the issue of what to do with old food on the other shelves though, where we don't know who it belongs to.

Interesting. I read "eat me" to mean "do what you want with me" including disposal if it's felt the item needs disposing

Ah I see - for other stuff surely it's reasonable to have a general policy that stuff past it's sell-by or that looks "dodgy" will be thrown out?
