There was discussion some time ago regarding making better use of the vertical space we have available for storage, so this issue is really here as a reminder of that, and also as a place where people can throw in their ideas for where that storage could go, and what it would be useful for.

Big proponent of this after @goatchurchprime gave me an anecdote as to how factories allocate their physical space, which maybe he could elaborate on here.

Since it's actually not that often that people come up with good ideas for vertical storage, they should all be noted here. One I've had is for the vinyl cutter to be mounted on the wall below a wall mounted reel. The reel would be on a short rail such that you could move it left or right a certain amount, this would allow you to lock into place a roll of vinyl. At that point, the roll would feed into the vinyl cutter, gravity would pull the vinyl straight down, as would the rollers in the vinyl cutter, this would all take place on the wall and be just as convenient as it already is whilst taking up less space.
