To make sure people don't sit at people's desks, person's name or maybe business, or both.

I had also wondered if it's worth including people's twitter handle, but we're tending towards lots of info to put on a sign then :-)

It would be nice if making the sign (or at least customising it for the person's name) was something that the person was encouraged to help do, to get them to use the workshop for at least one thing. Maybe they could decide what info to include, with their name being the only required field?

When we design the signs for this, it would be handy if a modified version of the sign could also be used for the hot-desk available signs (they'd ideally allow an easy available/in-use switch - with a whiteboard portion to allow a hot-desker to write their name on, for bonus points?)

Added some comments to #28 suggesting the permanent desk sign and available hot desk sign should be different.

Perhaps this one could be based on white perspex but have 2 pegs protruding from it. "Even" hot deskers are allowed to write stuff on the whiteboard when they're using a desk for a day, but permanent deskers would be encouraged to make their own name plate which would hang from the pegs. Not sure how to attach this whole thing, It could attach to the edge of some desks but many desks don't have a visible edge so the thing would need to be able to be free standing and visible whilst not taking up too much space.

Is this now a stale issue? The power supplies and hotdesking signs now clearly show what's a free desk —
compared to the desks occupied by stuff.
