I am now sending penup and pendown instructions as http://192.168.0.98/plug=1 and http://192.168.0.98/plug=0 to an ESP8266 impregnated S20 power switch from the javascript frontend (as jsonp calls), and can turn the fan on and off in lieu of such a gondola feature:

The code you need to load onto the ESP8266 -- if you use one on the gondola instead of, say, that garage door opener circuit -- is:

If you take it off-site it will need the new wifi network programmed in for it. For now it looks up the strongest DoES**** wifi and connects to that using the common password
