This is very high priority as ideally needs to be ready for Wednesday (28th March) evening as there are meetings planned. @jackie1050 and I have reviewed and have the following suggestions:
"Bogan's Carpets" are due to arrange a meeting with us Monday - initially for the Vinyl in the kitchen but we can ask them to quote on this too and advise on the above. We think an expert - such as Bogans' -should also do the fitting. We would do the knot removal if required. Question: Do we also need to do caulking (we will ask carpet people) ? NB. Probably do esp. if we don't intend to carpet immediately @zarino recommends mid-grey for carpet where used |

I did wonder why the meeting room which requires a trip across the main space was being used rather than the events room. Because of all the stuff in the latter?

I will try to source some floorboards tomorrow (Monday) to fill the big floorboard sized hole
We'll try to clean up some tables and chairs to put in the space
We'll try to clear up the main area so people visiting can get into the meeting room without having to navigate the room

I guess so. It's a mess in there at the minute isn't it? I think the plan is to empty it during the long weekend? |

We certainly don't have anywhere to empty it at the moment ...

Spoken to timber merchant "Boydells" in Leigh. They can do floorboards up to 145mm width for £2.20 inc. VAT per metre (std 21mm thickness - would need 4mm hardboard or ply as packing on joists) or £4.14 inc. VAT per metre (machined specifically to 25mm thickness or whatever we need). First available while you wait, 2nd needs more time to make, so order first. They don't really like caulk as it tends to fall through over time. They suggested nailing down exterior ply over surface instead - doesn't need any further finishing. If nothing similar in Liverpool I could get a few planks tomorrow lunchtime (probably in exact lengths too) and we could fit them tomorrow evening. |

That all sounds great Jackie. I doubt I'm going to have time to lay down floorboards so if you think that's the way to go please do. Speaking with @johnmckerrell today we were thinking the best way forward would be to concentrate on emptying the events space, tidying that up, and making that available to Martin and co. |

Martin is happy using either, there was some discussion just now over which would be the least effort so we'll assess tonight, obviously the floorboard needs fixing either way. |

Sections of missing floor are 145mm wide, 21mm thick and 2670mm and 300mm length. |

We did some cleaning out of the events room this evening and got it set up for Martin. I did a quick test of cleaning a bit of the floor in the corner of this room, just with some warm water with standard floor cleaner in it, a sponge and a scrubbing brush... With just the sponge and soapy water, you get through to what looks like light grey paint. With a bit of scrubbing, really not much, the paint lifts and you're left with the wood of the floorboards. There are some areas where we'd need to be careful about how much water we put down on the floor as it could drip through to downstairs, but I think we could get a decent way just giving them a wash. |

I imagine the thought is to clean and then seal? Jason understands that they were already sealed with PVA but I don't know what will happen if we scrub the dust off, possibly that will take the PVA off and we'll need to reseal anyway. I wouldn't mind confirming with them that this really happened as I did see someone brushing the floor but he was just squirting small amounts of liquid on which seemed more like just a way to stop the dust come up rather than a sealing step. Possibly the sealing followed but I'm not 100% convinced. |

Ah, maybe it's not grey paint then, maybe it's dust mixed with PVA. That'd explain why it comes off so easily with a bit of scrubbing. If we do clean them up like this they I think we would want to seal them with something afterwards |

The pieces of wood are in the room - need some fine tuning and screwing down. |

I will be in this afternoon Jackie, so I should be able to sort this out, it was taken up for the networking after all. There is also a bit of flooring between the meeting room and quiet room that needs replacing if I recall correctly, which I can fix at the same time. |

New floorboard fitted and fixed down. It needed a bit of fettling, but it fits very well now. I also fixed down most of the loose floorboards in this room but found another small piece of floorboard that will need replacing (not done by us this time). Luckily, I may have found a spare piece of floorboard that should allow us to fix this and one other hole in the main room. I. Will confirm this tomorrow. |

A new hole has opened as one of the floorboards has flaked apart, that may or may not need fixing before getting some carpet in. |

We need to review the current state of the flooring in the meeting room and make a plan for what we need to do with it and when. There will be small fixes needed but we need to decide if a bigger change is needed and when?
