Currently shows the same sans-serif font and some games look better with serif based fonts in context, e.g. Yume Nikki.
Maybe requires updating Shinonome configuration.

Yes, RM2000 and RMG2000 fonts were a handmade work by the translation staff for the Don Miguel RTP installer, however original RPG_RT.exe used MS Mincho and Gothic which look different for latin script, specially the serif from MS Mincho.

Recent RPG_RT.exe adaptations can rely on system fonts and not depending on RM2000.fon and RMG2000.fon (making the game installation independent), since Windows Vista an later include them by default. They are bitmapped inside the TTF for small sizes, so they work fine with ClearType. The problem with Windows XP and older is the non-romanized internal font name and not distributed by default in these old days.

This Ib translation uses system MS Mincho as it should look:

I don't know if Shinonome Mincho includes latin glyphs, but if it lacks them is probable to exist some free bitmap 6x12 font to consider.

Yes, but the PR does not fix the serif style. RM2000 and RMG2000 fonts are just different styles, but at least RM2000 looks more like MS Gothic, but not the same, most noticeable in caps and Cyrillic. @rohkea mentioned Shinonome Mincho does not include a serif version for Latin glyphs, then should be designed or import some free 6x12 serif font more similar to MS Mincho.
