Include data from the whole fediverse (and not just Mastodon)

Many people asked if I could include data from the whole fediverse, and not only regarding Mastodon instances. This concerns make sense and I'm okay to look into this. However, I'm not really familiar with other Fediverse projects, and I don't know yet a place to gather this data.

At the moment, data used in MNM is gathered this way:

1. I fetch the JSON data from http://instances.mastodon.xyz/instances.json every 5 minutes
2. I fetch the country data of instances regularly because it's not available in the previous endpoint

To adress this issue, I'll have to:

1. Store some "type" field with the instances (Mastodon, GNU Social, etc.)
2. Find an endpoint similar to https://instances.mastodon.xyz where I can easily find a list of instances along with their statuses / users / connections count.

Point 2 Is the main blocker. If you're reading this and know the location of such an endpoint you're welcome :)

Ideally, one would still be able to view Mastodon-only stats versus the other federated ActivityPub / OStatus services. Even better would be to be able to compare Mastodon versus other services.
