Agreed. I created "lentic water body" and "lotic water body" to improve this. Not sure about wetlands though. Please close if you think this is sufficient. |

this term is undefined.
it includes aquifier, bed, lake, spring, ...
it does not include wetland.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water\_body states that it can include wetlands.
it goes on to state
"Rivers, streams, canals, and other geographical features where water moves from one place to another are not always considered bodies of water, but there is no other term in English comprising "stationary" bodies of water as well as rivers and canals etc., and such moving bodies of water are included in this article."
From a logical point of view it would seem simplest to have a generic term defined as any accumulation of water on the surface of the earth, and to have two subtypes, stationary and flowing.
