I know this probably wont be the first thing tackled but I want to have some input here. I don't think a skill tree is a good thing in a game like DayZ, I don't think you should have to read a book or earn skill points to repair a car, dress a wound, start a fire, etc. skills like that are bad and detract from game play. The game is already monotonous enough without this overhead and additional barrier to entry
Rather, I think everyone should have the ability to do everything in the game and skills/attributes should be a refinement there in. look at escape from tarkov for example, there are skills, but for playing in certain ways or certain weapons your character's abilities are refined, e.g. recoil reduced with a certain weapon, better endurance, quicker healing, more weight bearing capability.
Just my 2 cents before this issue is started
