Installing and using the Query Store Dashboards

The installation and use of the Query Store Dashboards is pretty straightforward.

For optimal visability inside the graphs of the Query Store Instance Dashboard we advise to configure the Query Store option "Statistics Collection Interval" to an identical value for all Query Store enabled databases inside the SQL Server Instance.

  • Download the .rdl file from the GitHub repository.

  • Save the .rdl file in a convenient location on the machine you want to use the dashboard.

  • Startup SQL Server Management Studio and connect to the SQL Server instance where you intend to use the dashboard.

  • Right-click on a database that has the Query Store feature enabled and select the option “Reports – Custom report”.

  • Browse to the directory where you saved the dashboard .rdl file and select “Open”.

  • It is possible a security warning appears about running a custom report. If you want to use the Query Store Database Dashboard you will have to select “Run” to proceed.

  • The Query Store Database Dashboard should appear!
