Windsurf IDE commit message generation error

Everytime I click on the commit generate buttom, a error raise: Error generating commit message: [unknown] no git diffs found (do you have untracked files?)

However I did made changes to tracked files. Screenshot is attached:

Enviroment:
Mac Mini M4, Tahoe 26.1

I often encounter this issue. The workaround that usually works for me is to manually commit a single file first, then try clicking the “Generate” button again, Hope this helps :))

having the same issue tried the recommendation above of 1 manual commit but no dice.

Open only the folder that contains the change.
If your project has both /backend and /frontend open in the editor at the same time, it will fail.

Steps:

Go to File → Open Folder.

Select only the folder you need — for example, /frontend.

Try again, and it should work.

then File → Add Folder to Workspace. add /backend
