Description of the problem
This was originally reported as Bloqs issue, but since Bloqs masquerades as a Grid field, I suspected this was a Grid issue, and after testing, can confirm that it is. See this ticket for the backstory.

If a publish page has a Relationship field (lets say field_id_1) and a Grid field, and the Grid has 1 column in it that is also a Relationship field (col_id_1), then if an entry is assigned to the Relationship field inside of the Grid field it will save fine, but when the publish page re-loads, the assigned entries also appear in the other Relationship field (field_id_1) on the page that is not inside of Grid.

How To Reproduce

  • Create a Relationship field
  • Create a Grid field
  • Add a Relationship field as a Grid column
  • Manually update the database tables to make sure the col_id matches the standalone Relationship field id.
  • Save an entry, then wait for the publish page to reload. You should see the same related entries assigned in the Grid field show as selected in the standalone Relationship field.

Environment Details:

  • Version: 5.1.3
  • PHP Version: 7
  • MySQL Version: 5.7.25
  • OS: Ubuntu
  • Web Server: Apache
