Description of the problem
I discovered this on a new ExpressionEngine instance. I limited my default channel to a single entry (for the home page). I had not made any additional channels, but went to make a new entry for an about-us page (and others to fill out the site structure). Discovered that the drop down box for a new entry will appear (even though there are no available channel links) but will be empty with no indication why.
