for some reason whenever I try <em class="icon-spin icon-spinner"></em> on a current project it jumps around a bit.. It doesnt do it on your demo pages which is weird, so i tried isolating the problem with creating a page only linking to the font-awesome.css file, and putting the spinner there and it still did it..

I also tried putting it on a fiddle but the icon doesnt show up and its kinda hard to see if jumping around -- http://jsfiddle.net/UzGBG/

is anyone else having this problem?

Firefox is glitchy all around. More of a pain in the ass to deal with than IE7 for fonts. Such shitty rendering in Firefox. IE7 is better, believe it or not.

I have the same issue

"icon-spin icon-spinner" seems to bounce (slight movement up and down) in Firefox...

leniel commented Mar 11, 2013

Yes... in Firefox 19.0.2 unfortunately the icon keeps bouncing. Looks pretty good in Chrome 25.0.1364.152 and IE 10. All tested on Windows 8 side. :)

Here's a nice StackOverflow question about something similar: http://stackoverflow.com/q/13959259/114029 As the guy mentions in his question, the spinner burns up CPU and should be removed from the DOM after doing its job. Indeed I can hear the fans of my MacBook while the spinner is running on Firefox at least. :D

Interesting: testing with Firefox Aurora 21.0a2 on Mac OS side, the spinner looks pretty good just like on Chrome 25 and IE 10 on Windows.

The CPU burn is a separate issue that will be addressed in 3.1.0. As for Firefox rendering, I'm not so sure I can do much about it.

I'm getting the jittery spinning when viewing my app in Firefox but when I view the FontAwesome homepage, the spinners all look fine.

Does anyone have any idea why that might be?

I am getting the same problem. Still no reasonable explanation why they render fine on the demo pages though? Have tried adjusting base typography in case that affected it with no luck. Even playing around with font size, width, height, and transform-origin, I can't find a state where it stops shaking. Looks like it might be a png backup if there are no other solutions :(

davegandy commented May 10, 2013

Should be much better in the latest 3.1.0-wip branch. After the release, let me know if this doesn't fix it.

Not seeing anyone still having this issue, so closing.
