Gittip is a platform for sustainable crowd-funding. We launched seven months ago and are currently moving $1,500 per week in gifts between 600 active users. Gittip is funded on Gittip and is run by an open company.
One of our users wanted to add a Gittip link on his blog. He's using Font Awesome for Twitter, GitHub, and Facebook icons, and it would be great if he could do the same for Gittip.
I've ticketed this on the Gittip side as gratipay/gratipay.com#511. If you have any interest in moving forward with this before we get around to submitting one ourselves, here is the Gittip "heart coin" logo as a reference:
Thanks for your consideration. :-)
I like what you guys are trying to do, so I'll see what I can add.
Awesome! Thanks @davegandy! :D
FYI, we've landed five partnerships—WorkForPie, Coderbits, Snipt, ThoughtStreams, and Julython—and we've got one more in the works, RubyGems. We've also launched a browser extension for Chrome. Once RubyGems lands I'm planning to do a blog post about these integrations, and I'd be happy to include Font Awesome as part of that. Let see what works out ...
@davegandy Pursuant to https://twitter.com/byscuits/status/341987105448288256 here is the current logo:
Thanks for signing up for Gittip and for including our logo in Font Awesome! :D
Glad to do it! Love what you all are doing.
As a side note, the rounded inner part of the heart is causing the logo to render more like a down arrow than a heart at 14px. Any thoughts?
Ironic, it was pointed until we wanted to make it in metal. :-)
I'm not super-familiar with the process here. What are our options? Can we do hinting for particular sizes or are we constrained by the master AI file?
I've avoided using hinting so far, as some webfont formats do not support it. If the logo is going to render precisely as intended at larger size, it needs to look the same at smaller sizes. Let me play around a little bit here with relative size of the logo within the font boundaries. I might be able to get something to work there.
The option most ideal for me (though certainly not for you) is to have the logo have a slightly smaller rounded inner point for the heart. But me suggesting changes for your logo is a bit ridiculous. :)
adding icon-gittip #699
Okay, I made the logo just a hair larger than I usually do for circled elements.
Should be good to go. Checked into the 3.2.0-wip branch.
Thanks @davegandy, much appreciated. :-)
