Exported .vcf files are empty

Steps to reproduce the bug

I exported my contacts in the settings and the resulting .vcf file is empty. It's 0 bytes and I also opened it and it's empty. I downloaded downloaded multiple times to different folders and it's still empty.

Expected behavior

I expected my contacts to be in that file, like they are when exporting them from the Google Contacts app.

Actual behavior

The .vcf file is empty.

1. It said 'Exporting...' and then 'Exporting Successful'.
2. I exported with Google Contacts after several tries because I got tired and didn't want to risk my Contacts not being backed. Of course I'm trying to move away from Google which is why I tried Fossify. The Google .vcf is 18 KB. I opened it and checked that indeed these details are as I expect.

Update: I just exported it again from Fossify and the .vcf is 214 KB if I save it to internal storage. No sure why it's that big. So now that's a new issue I guess, why is the backup file so large?

Until now you were only trying to export to external storage? That's important for bug reproduction and finding the cause.

Google Contacts compresses photos while exporting. We leave them in the original size. That's an expected behavior.

I did try both external and internal storages. Now both work. I think I needed to wait not only for the 'Exporting Successful' message but actually keep the Fossify Contacts app open until I see my cloud drive updates.

I guess you might want to close this thread then, but maybe also check for yourself how long it takes for .vcf to appear in both internal and external folders and see if it says 0 bytes initially.
