This project aims to be a lightweight but feature rich and good looking configuration of Fvwm. It contains many useful things to make work and life easier with a flavour of a modern desktop. But it can be also configured by your own. It's good documented and shows you what is possible with this powerful window manager. Featurelist of Fvwm-Nightshade 0.8: ===================================== - Works with FVWM 2.6.5 but with full support of Xdg menus like in CVS version of FVWM. - Own user configuration directory ~/.fvwm-nightshade (can be used parallel to existing Fvwm configuration). - Own entry "Fvwm-Nightshade" in graphical login managers. - Own XDG applications menu with it's own directory files. - Build support for deb, rpm, Gentoo and Arch installation. - Support for local installation without root rights. - Localization support for German, French, Spanish and Russian. - Support for shadows and transparency with XcompMgr and Compton. - Support for hald, upower and systemd for Suspend and Hibernate. - Support for hotplug mounting (i.e. usb). - Support for icons on desktop. Also for mounted devices. - Up to 10 virtual desktop pages (more possible but only keys 0-9 for different key bindings are available). - Taskbar to show running apps per page. - Lock desk & screen (xscreensaver). - Autostart possibility (starting apps while startup). - Gtk2 Config tools for different settings: - FNS-BaseSetup (layouts, themes, compositing, icons on desktop, etc.). - FNS-WindowsBehaviour (focus policies, placement, etc.). - FNS-CompConfigurator (config tool for xcompmgr or compton). - FNS-MenuConfigurator (exchange original fvwm-menu-config GUI). - FNS-CPU-Performance (governor-tool for cpufreq / cpupower). - FNS-MenuBuilder (configuration tool for personal menu). - "Run" command depending on installed software (grun, gmrun or FvwmForm). - Background configurable with a thumb browser which can scan different wallpaper locations. - Four different layouts scalable up to 4K: - horizontal (top) - vertical (top right) - G2like (top & bottom) - Klike (bottom) - Many eye candy themes/decors (changable on the fly without restart): - Air - Ambience - Clean - CrystalBalls - FlatTab - GrayRevenge - PitchBlack (default) - Redmond - Rocken - Tribal - Own Gtk2 and 3 themes for Air, Tribal, FlatTab and PitchBlack (default). - Set of nice icons for menus and internal apps. - Animation control of window moves (FvwmAnimate). - Window focus switching with Alt-Tab / Shift-Alt-Tab. - Splash screen based on ImageMagick to support more image formats. - Creation of thumbs with mini icon and name for iconified applications instead of a simple icon. - Smart maximize windows - move and resize windows to the largest free area of a desktop page. - Dynamic menus - Help messages for mouse bindings in titlebar, window, corners, sides. - Help messages for key bindings.
