Welcome to Fvwm-Nightshade! This project aims to be a lightweight but
feature rich and good looking configuration of Fvwm. It contains many 
useful things to make work and life easier with a flavour of a modern 
desktop. But it can be also configured by your own. It's good documented
and shows you what is possible with this powerful window manager.


Featurelist of Fvwm-Nightshade 0.8:

- Works with FVWM 2.6.5 but with full support of Xdg menus like in 
  CVS version of FVWM.

- Own user configuration directory ~/.fvwm-nightshade (can be used 
  parallel to existing Fvwm configuration).
- Own entry "Fvwm-Nightshade" in graphical login managers.
- Own XDG applications menu with it's own directory files.

- Build support for deb, rpm, Gentoo and Arch installation.
- Support for local installation without root rights.
- Localization support for German, French, Spanish and Russian.

- Support for shadows and transparency with XcompMgr and Compton.
- Support for hald, upower and systemd for Suspend and Hibernate.
- Support for hotplug mounting (i.e. usb).
- Support for icons on desktop. Also for mounted devices.

- Up to 10 virtual desktop pages (more possible but only keys 0-9 
  for different key bindings are available).
- Taskbar to show running apps per page.
- Lock desk & screen (xscreensaver).
- Autostart possibility (starting apps while startup).

- Gtk2 Config tools for different settings:
  - FNS-BaseSetup (layouts, themes, compositing, icons on desktop, etc.).
  - FNS-WindowsBehaviour (focus policies, placement, etc.).
  - FNS-CompConfigurator (config tool for xcompmgr or compton).
  - FNS-MenuConfigurator (exchange original fvwm-menu-config GUI).
  - FNS-CPU-Performance (governor-tool for cpufreq / cpupower).
  - FNS-MenuBuilder (configuration tool for personal menu).

- "Run" command depending on installed software (grun, gmrun or FvwmForm).
- Background configurable with a thumb browser which can scan different
  wallpaper locations.

- Four different layouts scalable up to 4K:
  - horizontal (top)
  - vertical (top right)
  - G2like (top & bottom)
  - Klike (bottom)

- Many eye candy themes/decors (changable on the fly without restart):
  - Air
  - Ambience
  - Clean
  - CrystalBalls
  - FlatTab
  - GrayRevenge
  - PitchBlack (default)
  - Redmond 
  - Rocken
  - Tribal

- Own Gtk2 and 3 themes for Air, Tribal, FlatTab and PitchBlack (default).
- Set of nice icons for menus and internal apps.

- Animation control of window moves (FvwmAnimate).
- Window focus switching with Alt-Tab / Shift-Alt-Tab.
- Splash screen based on ImageMagick to support more image formats.
- Creation of thumbs with mini icon and name for iconified applications 
  instead of a simple icon.
- Smart maximize windows - move and resize windows to the largest free 
  area of a desktop page.

- Dynamic menus
- Help messages for mouse bindings in titlebar, window, corners, sides.
- Help messages for key bindings.


Requirements:
=============
Required:       Fvwm >= 2.6.5, python-2.7, python-xdg, xterm, conky, 
                xscreensaver, feh, imagemagick, librsvg2-bin, xwd,
                stalonetray, cpufrequtils or cpupower, gksu, pcmanfm,
                libgtk2-perl, liblocale-gettext-perl, polkit-gnome

Recommended:    gnome-network-manager, pm-utils, qtconfig for qt4, 
                lxappearance, gtk2-engines-murrine, gtk2-engines-pixbuf

Suggested:      fdpowermon or cbatticon-gtk2 (for pm-utils), blueman, 
                grun or gmrun, volumeicon-alsa, clipit or parcelite, 
                xneur, compton or xcompmgr
