Here's some more info about transparency within the webm format itself: https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2013/07/Alpha-transparency-in-Chrome-video?hl=en

Here's a test page, showing off embedded webm videos with transparency: https://simpl.info/videoalpha/

Finally, here's a direct link to a webm video with transparency: https://simpl.info/videoalpha/video/dancer1.webm

The link above says it works since Chrome 31. I'm on FireFox 70.0.1 where it also works perfectly.
