stale-while-revalidate is a HTTP header that has been proposed as in RFC 5861. It has limited, but hopefully growing, browser support.

Bug tracking:
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=348877

Although stale-while-revalidate (and stale-if-error?) has no known browser implementations yet, I think it would be encouraging to add it to the support table as partial support(?) because it is supported in nginx and multiple CDNs.
