Update 9/27/17:

Our skill is working! Check it out at https://www.amazon.com/pcorey-NIST-Metric-Trivia-Quiz/dp/B075QNJ7T7/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-skills&ie=UTF8&qid=1506520806&sr=1-1&keywords=metric or just search "metric" from the Alexa Skills main page.

Update 6/9/17:

I've got my skill working in the developer portal! It's so cool to hear it read out my text and questions. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to test it with a real Alexa. I want to be able to take the quiz like a user before I publish it.

We're going to create our Alexa skill as a Metric Quiz! We hope that the skill will be able to be used by teachers and students who are learning (or interested in) the metric system. Our metric webpages are the most viewed pages in all of the Physical Measurement Laboratory (PML) webpages and specifically the ones that have definitions and trivia type items.

We plan to follow this tutorial - https://developer.amazon.com/blogs/post/TxDJWS16KUPVKO/New-Alexa-Skills-Kit-Template:-Build-a-Trivia-Skill-in-under-an-Hour

Our invocation name: n.i.s.t. metric (skill names are not allowed to have just acronyms as their name)

Examples of our utterances (or questions within the quiz) are as follows:
How long is a football field?
Answer: 90 meters
How thick is a dime?
Answer: 1 millimeter
What does the prefix yotta mean?
Answer: The prefix yotta means septillion.
What is the temperature on the surface of the sun in Celsius?
Answer: The temperature on the surface of the sun is 5,600 degrees Celsius.
