Steps to reproduce (important):

  1. launch any modpack with mputils
  2. get to step 4 in forge initializing mods phase 2
  3. crash

What happens:

Whenever I try any modpack with mputils in it it crashes in step 4. It then gives me the message:

The game crashed whilst there was a severe problem during mod loading that has caused the game to fail
Error: net.minecraftforge.fml.common.LoaderExceptionModCrash: Caught exception from ModPack Utilities (mputils)

I have the crash reports from 2 different modpacks that both didn't work with it.

  1. https://pastebin.com/RbRuKB37
  2. https://pastebin.com/7ajmj7GR

What you expected to happen:

I expected the modpacks to launch

Affected Versions (Do not use "latest"):

  • MPUtils Mods: 1.5.7 (I have tried other versions and they still crashed)
  • Minecraft: 1.12.2
  • Forge: 23.5.2847

It probably has to do cause it cant find your %appdata% folder structure to save stuff. TBH mputils Ive only seen one other person report this I believe they had a mac, not sure what the fix was. But you could remove mputils and any mputils addon and probably be ok. I dont have another fix at this time.
MPUtils is made to relay information about the pack to the player. Depending on the pack though you may lose some information on how to play the pack . But removing it for now should not break your experience with the pack .

I am having the same issue with the same exception leading to a crash.

Is it possible I need to change permissions on a certain folder, perhaps somewhere in %appdata% as you said?

I would just remove the mod, however the server I play on requires it to be installed.
