grive won't sync files shared by another user #80

@boblannon

does the original owner of a shared file need to authorize access to that shared file (even if i've dragged it to "my drive")? i'm not getting any errors, but the file isn't syncing.

command issued:

$> grive

expected behavior: grive command syncs all files, including those shared by others

actual behavior: grive command syncs the files that i've created, but does not download those created by others and shared with me.

Please run "grive -l /tmp/logfile" and sends the log file. Also please tell us the name of the file got ignored.

@boblannon

the file is called "YouTube channels for major Super PACs," and it's not being mentioned in the log. maybe it is being listed as spreadsheet "" is a google document, ignored? not sure.

It's possible. Grive doesn't give very meaningful log when dealing with google documents. I will see what I can do.

06bf4fe has implemented better logs for google documents. Can you please try again and post the log?

Any update?

@jvrsantacruz

I have the same issue I think. I have several shared folders with just .doc inside.
This is my log:

For those "file "name" parent doesn't exist, ignored" log entries, they mean Grive cannot find the parent folder of that file. Probably because it is not dragged to "My Drive"

@jvrsantacruz

That was exactly the problem. My bad.
Thank you. :)

@athanazio

Is there any hope? It's very important to us that are setting up 20k account's of an Brazilian university and wish to use grive for google drive support on desktop installations.

I just created a test folder and document on my gmail account. The folder syncs, but not the doc within. The doc was created with my account and shared with another account, but does not sync. xml output: https://friendpaste.com/21WFtusmIesUcgQ8eqdgfr

@rogierslag

Any progress on this?

@Teknocrat

I have the same problem, would love to get this fixed.. it complains with error no parent on files shared with me

file "landingpage_tab.jpg" parent doesn't exist, ignored
file "M5" parent doesn't exist, ignored

@wheredevel

I've another user, sharing a folder with me.
I did 'Add to My Drive'
Sync fails.
Here're the lines from the Grive log on each file regarding the FOLDER:

folder "FOLDER" is deleted in local
...
file "FOLDER/f1" parent deleted recursively in local (local_deleted)
file "FOLDER/f2" parent deleted recursively in local (local_deleted)
file "FOLDER/f3" parent deleted recursively in local (local_deleted)
...
sync "FOLDER" deleted in local. deleting remote

@entodoays

I have a folder shared by another account. I selected "Add to My Drive" but grive still does not sync the contents of this folder. Is there something that can be done? A solution or a workaround? On Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit. Using grive tools 1.11 beta.

@elninogusano

I have the same problem, shared folders are not synchronized if I'm not the owner.
