Safari not focusing tab with hs.window:focusTab #2080

I'm currently running into an issue with hs.window:focusTab not actually focusing tabs in Safari, although Google Chrome and iTerm2 seem to work as expected.

I'm suspecting this may be due to something in the latest macOS update as this issue exists only on my personal laptop (MBA 2018 v10.14.4, Safari v12.1), and not on my work laptop (MBP 2017 v10.14.3, Safari v12.0.3), both using the same latest Hammerspoon version (0.9.73).

Can anyone confirm this or provide a workaround? I use this quite a lot so I would appreciate any help :)

It does seem like it's not working with the latest OS/Safari. I wonder if they've changed something under the hood?
