These are imported from Homebrew/homebrew-dev-tools and are both used by maintainers so may be useful for contributors too.

FYI the 1.5.5 release is broken for me since I had been using brew ruby after tapping homebrew/dev-tools along with HOMEBREW_UPDATE_TO_TAG=1. The upstream tap is in sync with master but not the latest stable release. This should be fixed once a release is made for this PR.

I'll disable HOMEBREW_UPDATE_TO_TAG in my CI for the time being.

EDIT:

I see the following error (example build):

$ brew ruby -e "exit 0"
Error: Unknown command: ruby
