By default Pidgin looks for plugins only in its own cellar and the user home directory. This plugin adds HOMEBREW_PREFIX (e.g. /usr/local) to the plugin search path so that we can add more plugins in separate formulas and taps.

The plugins shipped with Pidgin are linked into the global prefix as well and will therefore be detected multiple times. Pidgin prints warnings about that when started in debug mode (pidgin -d). Other than that, it will just ignore the duplicates.

  • Have you followed the guidelines for contributing?
  • Have you checked that there aren't other open pull requests for the same formula update/change?
  • Have you built your formula locally with brew install --build-from-source <formula>, where <formula> is the name of the formula you're submitting?
  • Is your test running fine brew test <formula>, where <formula> is the name of the formula you're submitting?
  • Does your build pass brew audit --strict <formula> (after doing brew install <formula>)?

The build issue seems highly unrelated to my changes. I am not sure what I could/shoud do.
