I´ve been installing python following the instructions on, installing pip with

easy_install pip

But easy_install seems to have installed pip not in the /usr/local/share/python directory but in the standard /usr/local/bin.

What did I do wrong? How can I deinstall pip and reinstall it into the right directory?

Are you using Homebrew's Python or the system Python?

januz commented Mar 13, 2012

I installed via Homebrew using "brew install python". After successful installation I installed pip via "easy_install pip"...

Homebrew python's easy_install is in /usr/local/share/python; did you put that in your path first?

If you just easy_install pip without doing that first, you will be using /usr/bin/easy_install which sticks pip in /usr/local/bin.

I did put it in my path but as I just realised, I didn´t put it in front of /usr/bin so easy_install was infact calling the system´s easy_install...

Sorry and thanks for your help!
