C++ formulas are typically compiled with gcc and clang and linked to libstdc++.
Because libc++'s ABI is not, in general, compatible with libstdc++'s ABI this makes it impossible to compile programs using the latest C++11 library features with clang and link them with the libraries compiled with homebrew.

I was wondering if this problem should be addressed in a formula by formula basis or using a "--use-" flag in homebrew.

Best regards.
