Have not been able to find a work around.

Note that system was recently upgraded from 10.6.8 to 10.8.3.

Did you re-install XCode after the upgrade? Seems like an odd coincidence that your other issue, #18936, also hints at problems with system headers.

alibby commented Apr 3, 2013

Indeed. 4.6.1, as well as the command line tools. In referencing 18936 did you mean mxcl#10290?

No, I meant to reference the other issue you reported: #18934.

Both of these issues reference a header: /usr/local/include/config.h. Where did this come from? Having a config.h present anywhere on the include path is a recipe for trouble as it will massively confuse Autotools---which is what I suspect is happening here.

Makes some sense to me. I'll watch mxcl#18934 to see. If you have any thoughts on this though I'm all ears. How this stuff and the build system interact is a bit beyond me.

Find out where /usr/local/include/config.h is coming from. For example, we pulled the mosml package (in #17210) because it dropped a config.h into /usr/local/include and broke everything. If it is coming from a Homebrew package, try brew unlink <package> followed by brew install gdal and see if everything works.

If it is not coming from Homebrew, let us know which piece of software installed it so we can have brew doctor watch for it.

Thanks! Looks like mxcl#17210 was the issue. I was able to get gdal up and running. Thanks for the help!
