We would consider a pull request for this, though probably in Homebrew-ALT or other repo instead of core.

That's fine, as long as it can be compiled successfully. ;)

Has anyone begun work on a firefox-x11 formula? If not, it's probably about time for me to try my hand at brewing.

I'm on it! I'm so sick of lusting for Linux just because of one missing package.

Out of curiosity, why do you want this?

I enjoy using a tiling window manager. You can install XMonad (my WM of choice) on OS X fairly easily, but as it's an X WM, Aqua applications won't interact with it. It's still great currently for shell organization, but having a browser would add a lot more functionality.

It appears @jaykru has dropped the project, I see he deleted his repository.

Yes, I dropped the project. My only machine decided to take a turn for the worse so I'm left with my iPad to use currently. I'll pick it back up whenever I have access to something I can work with, however. Sorry everyone!

+1 would be nice to install somehow from brew. No updates since correct?

FYI, it's also supposedly deleted from MacPorts per: https://trac.macports.org/ticket/42087. The ticket has link to last version/commit that had it, as well a Github repo of backed up ports (of a developer).

Also did some follow up research, it appears FF x11 for Mac is in a sad state of affairs, not just from MacPorts/Fink perspective:

Sorry, we're not interested in maintaining this. I recommend brew cask install firefox.
