Summary
UPDATED
This session will give an overview of the browser fingerprinting problem, example mitigations in the Tor and Mullvad Browsers, challenges we face, and spark some discussion about how we can design new standards and build browser engines with fingerprinting in mind.
ORIGINAL
This session examines browser fingerprinting defense mechanisms and their implementation across browsers (Firefox / Tor Browser / Brave / Safari).
We'll start with an overview of the browser fingerprinting fundamentals before looking at how these browsers fight against common fingerprinting vectors such as screen resolution detection, font enumeration, canvas fingerprinting, and audio context analysis, highlighting successful approaches that balance privacy protection with user experience.
We'd be happy to talk about how browsers can work together to improve the field, for example by creating a knowledge base.
