The error code from Visual Studio is something like "cmd.exe exited with code 1" and the output shows errors compiling the python scripts in gecko-sdk.

To get around this, open a shell with python (I used the mozilla-build shell - C:/mozilla-build/start-msvc10.bat) and then do:

$ cd /extension/gecko-sdk/sdk/bin/
$ python xpidl.py

This should say something like "Generating LALR tables".
Now, build the project in Visual Studio again and it should work.

This step should hopefully be done automatically at some point.

With Firefox/gecko 11, the issue seems to have disappeared.
