Invoke the variable explorer with one cell

Right now you need to create a variable that updates every time that you press Shift+Enter, then you need to make the variable explorer depend on that variable. It would be nice if we could put all of that state management into a single call. Maybe this is another job for PlutoLinks? or AbstractDingetjes?
