When I started this project, the technological constraints of Yomichan required me to make various design simplifications to that version of the dictionary. The idea was that eventually Yomitan might become available, and I could then make the Yomitan version equivalent to the Mdict version.
After many revisions, I think I prefer the current design of the Yomitan edition of Jitendex. It seems to be much more efficient with vertical space without sacrificing readability. So I think I'd like to unify the formats by making the Mdict version visually similar to the current Yomitan version. This means dropping some of the emojis and full box borders from the Mdict version.
