Improved Unicode Support

  • tzt.exe supports game config files stored in paths containing 3 and 4-byte encoded Unicode characters
    • Primarily Chinese and Arabic
  • Special K and the mod support UTF-8 encoded INI files now instead of just UTF-16LE
    • Default is now UTF-8 and file sizes are cut in half, hurray! ;)
  • Added comments to some of the more important INI options

A bug was discovered in the updater that will prevent default_tzfix.ini from replacing tzfix.ini as it should in this release. Please manually perform this action after upgrading, the problem is fixed but will only apply the auto-updates after this release.

This release was compiled with Visual Studio 2015 Update 3 (previous releases used Update 1).

Updates No Longer Clobber User Customized Configuration!

  • I have designed a system that automatically retains user configuration.
    • This new system only requires action on your part if the base config files (default_<xyz>.ini) change.
    • Changed default_<xyz>.ini files become the new <xyz>.ini file and your old config file is moved to <xyz>.ini.old

v. 1.5.1.1 includes a minor tweak to the base d3d9.ini file for Steam anti-piracy

  • d3d9.ini will be reset after upgrading, but few users ever have to re-configure that so it's not a big deal.

Special K 0.6.14 Compatibility

  • May support Windows 7 finally
    • I am not going to lose any sleep if it does not; I hate that operating system.
  • Fixes for Alt+Tab in fullscreen exclusive mode that were causing deadlocks
  • D3D9Ex mode is no longer supported
  • Uses .7z format because that is what my auto-update software will use, if this is a problem I can go back to releasing .zip files.

System-wide Injection Support and Compatibility

  • Special K 0.6.4 (d3d9.dll) supports global injection

  • For users with the latest release of MSI Afterburner (D3D12 overlay support), the API reported on Special K's OSD now reads correctly instead of UNKNOWN.

  • Miscellaneous compatibility fixes should improve startup reliability for legitimate game owners and continue to make life a living hell for pirates.

    • Get a job, ye ol' smelly swashbucklers!

If the idea of using Special K in all games interests you, I would encourage you to join my Steam group and follow this thread.

Special K will give you an achievement unlock sound in all Steam games without ever tweaking any of the more advanced things that it does.

GeDoSaTo is still not supported, but a somewhat effective method to automatically block GeDoSaTo is included in this release. Raptr has been re-enabled because its tendency to crash games varies from system to system, you will get a warning that you can opt-out of when the game starts if Raptr is running.
