The Kursal source code is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 (AGPL-3.0-only).
This file covers what the license does not grant. Section 7(e) of the AGPL expressly allows a licensor to decline to grant rights under trademark law, and that is what this document does.
The following remain the property of their author and are reserved:
- The name Kursal, and the
kursal.chatdomain - The Kursal logo, app icon, and wordmark
- Banners, screenshots, promotional images, and other visual assets in this repository
- The Kursal website design
These are "all rights reserved." Copying the code does not copy permission to use them.
- Fork, modify, and redistribute the code under the AGPL-3.0, as the license allows
- Say that your project is based on, derived from, or compatible with Kursal
- Use the name in ordinary descriptive speech: articles, reviews, comparisons, documentation, talks
- Reproduce the logo when referring to the Kursal project itself, unmodified
- Name your fork or product "Kursal", or a name close enough to be confused with it
- Use the logo, icon, or wordmark as the identity of your fork or product
- Use the name or marks in a way that suggests we publish, endorse, maintain, or vouch for your version
- Register the name or a confusingly similar one as a trademark, domain, or app store listing
If you distribute a modified build, give it your own name and your own icon. Users need to be able to tell whose build they are running.
If you want to do something this file does not cover, or you think your case is reasonable and it says no, write to hello@kursal.chat. We are not trying to be difficult, and we would rather say yes to something specific than write a broader rule.
