Getting into the edge cases with the fallout from removing preventDefault, this was reported by @yohanboniface.

Requirements:

• FF
• #map element with absolute positioning
• Active vector layer

The first time you double-click, the tile layer gets selected. This looks like a browser bug, I have reduced it and filed an issue. Haven't found a workaround yet.

This works, but it would prevent ever selecting text in an SVG overlay:

@jfirebaugh well, I think in cases like text in SVG people could just redefine -moz-user-select in children text container, so the fix is good enough. Is it only reproducible in FF?
