Context Menu (right click)

Most of modern web mapping applications use context menu (right click) to enhance user experience.

This feature can be used to pinpoint things on the map, like markers, routes start/end, etc.

It would be very useful if Leaflet supported this feature natively.

Im trying to create such a context menu at the moment. I cant even get the mousebutton clicked when i inspect the JS-Event Object.

Event on Map:

jQuery.Event
altKey: undefined
attrChange: undefined
attrName: undefined
bubbles: undefined
button: undefined <-- Should have some value i think
[...]
type: "mousedown"

Inspecting the Event-Object created the same way anywhere else gives my an Integer for the used Button.

Is this a common issue?

This is my Code:

jQuery(polygon).on('mousedown', function(e){
console.info(e);
});

and i want to react on a rightclick.

and my problem is, that the events attributes "button" and "which" are both undefined. Using the same Code on an element outside the map shows me both attributes filled.

You're trying to convert Leaflet polygon object into a jQuery one, but polygon is not a DOM element! It's an instance of a Leaflet class. There's no straightforward way to add right click to polygons in Leaflet right now, but you can try this quick workaround:

jQuery(polygon._container).on( ...

We implemented this by adding folowing code:

in function Map._initEvents
add new event 'contextmenu':

    var events = ['dblclick', 'mousedown', 'mouseenter', 'mouseleave', 'mousemove', 'contextmenu'];

and then in
_fireMouseEvent: function (e)

block default contextMenu by adding:
if (type === 'contextmenu') {
L.DomEvent.preventDefault(e);
}
