Scale control size wrong #852
Description
Unfortunately I had never actually checked this before, but the scale in the scale control seems to be wrong. E.g. the size that scale shows for 1 km actually corresponds to about 1.3 to 1.4 km
How to verify:
Method A
- Just zoom in on your favorite city (on country / world level, scale is an average anyway, as it varies greatly depending on the location on the map)
- pick some landmark feature you know the length of (or have measured otherwise, e.g. on Google Maps, etc.) and compare to the size of the scale shown on the map
- scale size seems to be off between around 20% to 40%
Method B
- Pick two points near the ends of the scale control on the map and measure them with leaflet's distanceTo function
- Compare with what the scale control shows
