In ALSA 1.2.0 the UCM and topology configuration files have been split off from alsa-lib into separate repositories/packages.
UCM files switched to a new format and seems to be in heavy flux upstream with regular code and configuration fixes so there's a chance some stuff is still broken.
I don't have any hardware to runtime test UCM but as it's not used in LE by default and only a very niche thing (relevant mainly for Intels tablet/chromebook range of SoCs) that shouldn't be a big deal.
