It's not needed on any systems other than Generic as far as I know.

Please pipe up if you disagree.

That forum is a few years old and they had to self build with some extra patches anyway.

Yes it can probably be turned into an add-on. @awiouy care to take that on? along with irserver?

I've been using lcdproc with hd44780 displays over i2c and usb displays on the rpi. No objections to turning this into an addon but I'd suggest enabling it for all projects again - USB should be available on most platforms :-)

Errr.... guys! I have noticed that on Milhouse Libreelec test build #1005.

I am a Raspberry Pi lcdproc user, with a USB MatrixOrbital VFD. I love it, especially the at-a-glance progress bar!

Please bring it back!

A server addon would be very acceptable, I understand your desire to simplify the main distro if you can. But then, why keep it for Generic?

EDIT: could lcdproc come back in its old way until the addon is ready and available, please?

Yes, I could start an lcdproc server on a nearby machine and have the client addon use it through the network, but I do appreciate avoiding complexity when I can, so you haven't read this part, OK? :)

Thanks!
