LibreSignal is a fork of Signal-Android. The goal of this project is to remove all non-free parts of Signal like GCM (Google Cloud Messaging) or location/map and maybe replace them by free alternatives. For push notifications, Google Cloud Messaging has been completely replaced by WebSocket to directly connect to Open Whisper Systems's server. It's done via a modified version of libtextsecure, which has been included as a submodule.
You can get it from the Eutopia experimental repository or from the F-Droid archive repository.
It is an independent build of Signal-Android. It has been renamed, because of legal threats by Moxie Marlinspike (author of Signal-Android). For more info look at https://fdroid.eutopia.cz

If you whish to migrate from Signal-Android to LibreSignal from the Eutopia repository:
1. Install Oandbackup (You can get it from F-Droid)
2. Backup [Signal-Android](https://github.com/WhisperSystems/Signal-Android) with Oandbackup
3. Uninstall [Signal-Android](https://github.com/WhisperSystems/Signal-Android)
4. Install LibreSignal
5. Restore app data with Oandbackup
If you whish to migrate from Signal-Android to LibreSignal from the F-Droid archive repository plaese read https://github.com/LibreSignal/LibreSignal/issues/22##issue-143920682 .
To fix Oandbackup you need to go to settings --> busybox and enter: /system/bin/toybox
