Having doc work by default in Instarepl would be really good. Here's output from when you try.
"Output a movie line")
(doc force-it)|| => java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to resolve symbol: doc in this context, compiling:(NO_SOURCE_PATH:24:2)||
(doc str)|| => java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to resolve symbol: doc in this context, compiling:(NO_SOURCE_PATH:26:2)||
Maybe they are planning a document panel/section on the page according to the video.
And you'll be good to go.
Yeah, I brought it up because it seems it should be used by default. Instarepl will replace the commandline repl for a lot of Clojure newbies, and the tutorials they are going through will suggest they use the doc function. Confusion will ensue.
Confusion has ensued, I can assure you.
In the ecstatic earthworm release of my book, I told my clojure novices how to use LightTable. To reinforce @belucid, confusion did ensue.
The next release of the book will tell them to use clojure.repl, but it's still an inconvenience because they'll have to backtrack to those setup instructions at least a few times until the magic (to them) incantation sinks in.
Is there, or can there be a config file to initialize the Instarepl? Maybe a file that contains the current Instarepl instructions so that we can delete them and add other items like (use 'clojure.repl). Maybe also add a function to clear the Instarepl so that the initial screen is not filled. The first thing I do now when I launch a new Instarepl is delete all the initial content.
fixed in 0.2.*
I can't get doc to work 0.3.*. Am I suppose to able to type something like "(doc map)" now?
Nevermind, I see it on the bottom.
