Recap of the sessions and activities of the Linaro Automation Validation Architecture (LAVA) team at Linaro Connect USA, as well as a team update
For those that may not be as familiar with Linaro's LAVA team, this team is responsible for engineering and development of the open source Linaro Automated Validation Architecture (LAVA). LAVA provides a framework for enabling engineering groups to integrate and perform advanced testing across a set of hardware and virtual devices. During the week of Linaro Connect USA 2014 (LCU14) the team held several hacking sessions. If you were not able to attend, here's a recap of the LAVA sessions during the show as well as an interview with the team's director discussing the activities the team has been working on and what is coming up.

Linaro LAVA Group - Team Update
7051

For those that may not be as familiar with Linaro's LAVA team, this team is responsible for engineering and development of the open source Linaro Automated Validation Architecture (LAVA). LAVA provides a framework for enabling engineering groups to integrate and perform advanced testing across a set of hardware and virtual devices.  During the week of Linaro Connect USA 2014 (LCU14) the team held several hacking sessions.  If you were not able to attend, here's a recap of the LAVA sessions during the show as well as an interview with the team's director discussing the activities the team has been working on and what is coming up.

Linaro Automated Validation Architecture (LAVA) Director and Tech Lead discuss the team's current status:

** Session Videos during Linaro Connect USA 2014**

During Linaro Connect USA the LAVA team held many hacking sessions throughout the week to discuss in detail the team's activities taking place.

  • LCU14-203: LAVA Use Cases: Upstream Kernel CI

    • Session Summary This session provided a short summary on how Linaro teams are automating upstream Kernel CI with a goal to improve the overall Linux on Arm ecosystem.   The second half of the session was general Q&A

  • LCU14-207: LAVA status update and refactoring the lava-dispatcher

    •  Session Summary The LAVA team will present the current status of the LAVA product and highlight the the in-progress dispatcher re-factoring.

  • LCU14-211: LAVA Use Cases: SW testing &  Reproducing a LAVA failures locally using CARE

    • Session Summary In this session, Remi, an ST assignee, reviewed how he is using LAVA within ST to perform PRoot (an ST opensource project) testing and some of the extensions he has created for artifact publishing and reporducing LAVA failures using CARE (an extension to PRoot).

  • LCU14-400: Managing a LAVA LAB using new Debian packages

    • Session Summary This session provided a summary of the process to install, update and manage LAVA within a LAVA LAB. Also discussed was how the LAVA LAB in Cambridge is managed and any thoughts or problems experienced when the LAB upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to Debian Jessie.

  • LCU14-404: LAVA and VLANs - complex networks on demand
    • Session Summary This session was an overview of LAVA and VLANS.

  • LCU14-409: BoF - Kernel Testing Made Easy
    • Session Summary Testing is like ice cream, there is always room for more. We can always use more testing to make sure the kernel does what it needs to. Unfortunately it is often not easy to test the kernel without doing a bunch of setup of environment and getting the correct tools. This session discusses ways of making kernel tests easy to run without requiring a lot of effort. Gaurav Minocha discussed the Google Summer of Code project on making the in-kernel device tree unit tests easier to run, and Grant Likely led a discussion on ways we can make kernel testing as easy as typing "make test".
